Life at KUAS

Fall

The Fall Semester Entrance Ceremony is held around the beginning of September. This is the day for international students to begin their new campus life at KUAS. After the ceremony, there is an orientation, where the rules and regulations of the university and the course of study are explained. Club recruitment also takes place on campus, and classes begin in mid-September.
In October, school festivals are held at the Uzumasa Campus and Kameoka Campus. Students take the lead in organizing stage performances and food stalls. Halloween parties are also a highly anticipated part of October.

Winter

Winter break lasts from the end of December to the beginning of January. This is because Japanese people value end-of-the-year and New Year’s events. Given that there are no classes, it is a great opportunity to go out on the town and experience Japanese culture.
When the second half of January comes around, students take their final exams for the fall semester. After the final examinations are over, the school is closed until the beginning of April. However, international students take mandatory intensive Japanese language courses during this time. Please keep this in mind when making vacation plans.

Spring

In early spring, the spring semester graduation and entrance ceremonies are held. Most students in Japan enter school in April, so the campus comes alive with many new students. Club recruitment events take place during this season as well, serving as a chance to find new friends and build new connections.
Classes for the spring semester start at the beginning of April. However, there are several consecutive national holidays from the end of April to the beginning of May. This string of holidays is known as Golden Week.

Summer

At the end of July, students take their final exams for the spring semester. After the final examinations are over, international students take mandatory intensive Japanese language courses during summer break. Even during these breaks, students may gather on campus to work on club activities or project-based learning assignments. In addition, most internship programs take place during August.
